Some people ask me “What are you doing there in Nancy? You only post stupid comics!”
Well there hasn’t been that much to tell.
But I’ll give an update.

I work in a small office, it’s my boss, me and another trainee. And I like it a lot. By working in a small company you’re really involved in the designprocess.
My chair will be produced as a limited edition, 15 pieces. Therefore we’re working on a mal, to form the plexi around.
On the 28th of July we have a meeting with a company-factory that has its specialisation in plexi and related materials.
With them we’ll discuss how to improve the design, how to make the plexi plate thinner to make it more economical, the weak points,…
In the meantime I’m redrawing the chair and doing some ergonomical research.
The last week we’ve also been writing press-releases in French and English.
We sent 200 personalised press-releases to international magazines, French and Belgian press, stores, interested people and possible buyers.
In the meantime my chair has arrived in France. We’ll take it to the company on the 28th. They will reheat specific parts to adjust and improve.

I’ve also been in contact with a hosier’s (knitting factory). They work for couturiers-fashion designers and furniture designers.
One of the people they’re working for is Arne Quinze. And top of the bill, they settled in the small village where I’m from. They place “Zottegem” on the map. ;-)

Because it’s a limited edition and completely handmade it will be rather expensive.
So next to this we’re also designing a smaller, cheaper chair that’s been inspired by the Plastic Dandy.
It will be a table-chair.

For the rest we also work on a new project. It’s a secret, but I can tell you that it’s very innovative.
To make it more clear or rather unclear I can say that we’re experimenting with “synthetico-organic”.

More news SOON, in the meantime stupid comics and “cows and calfs” as we say in Dutch, or “Hummer og Kanari” as we say in Norwegian.
